YOUR Thursday wildland πŸ”₯ fire update!
βœ…The area’s cloud cover burned off early in the day along the coastal ranges, north Cascades and central Oregon mountains.
βœ…Initial attack activity remained moderate with three new large incidents emerging. Elevated fire potential persisted in central Washington and supported active fire growth on new and existing incidents.
The 3️⃣ new fires include:
βœ…The Cedar Creek Fire is 15 Miles E of Oakridge, OR. This lightning-caused fire is 300 acres and 0% contained.
βœ…The Cow Canyon Fire, 13 Miles SW of Ellensburg, WA, is 1,000 acres and 0% contained.
βœ…The Williams Lake is 11 Miles S of Cheney, WA. This human-caused fire is 3,200 acres and 0% contained.
The 5️⃣ previously reported fires include:
βœ…The Windigo Fire, 20 miles SW of La Pine, OR. This lightning-caused fire is 978 acres and 0% contained. There are evacuations in effect and road, trail, and area closures.
βœ…The Potter Fire, 8 Miles NE of Clearwater, OR is 110 acres and 0% contained. This fire , primarily in timber, is experiencing moderate fire behavior.
βœ…The Vantage Highway Fire, 5 Miles W of Vantage, WA, is 26,490 acres and 21% contained. This fire, primarily in brush and grass, saw 15,990 acres of growth.
βœ…The Miller Road Fire, 13 Miles SW of Maupin, OR, is 10,500 acres and 0% contained. There are evacuations and road closures in effect on the fire.
βœ…The Beech Creek, 9 Miles S of Long Creek, OR, is 248 acres and 5% contained.
βœ…Showers associated with a passing upper-level trough will taper off in the northern Cascades this morning.
βœ…Southeastern Oregon will have some thunderstorm chances this afternoon with more widespread chances in eastern Oregon Friday.
βœ…Warmer weather will arrive for the weekend, lasting at least into the early part of next week.
βœ…New and holdover lightning ignitions will continue to emerge over the next few days, but significant fire potential will trend downward into the weekend.
