Containment: 30%
Cause: Lightning/Under investigation
Structures Threatened: 37 single residences

The Stayman Flats Fire was first reported on July 18 at approximately 2:35 p.m. The fire is burning in grass and brush in difficult terrain. High resources were ordered and multiple crews and aircraft responded.
A Type 3 Incident Management Team led by Incident Commander Escobar took command of the firefighting response at 7:00 a.m. on July 19. Additional resources were ordered and received.

The fire is burning in brush and grass. It was first assessed at 35 acres and grew to approximately 1200 acres. Multiple engine crews, air resources and heavy equipment are on scene. Evacuation orders are currently impacting 37 homes or structures. No major injuries have been reported to residents or firefighting personnel.

Air resources provided heavy attack on the fire throughout July 18 and 19. Aircraft are using local bodies of water, including Lake Chelan, to fill. Recreational boaters should be aware of aircraft takeoff and landings and keep a safe distance.
This operational period, crews will engage in direct attack on both flanks of the fire with the goal of securing and increasing containment. Crews will also cold-trail the edges of the fire perimeter to prevent flare-ups. Multiple aircraft from Washington DNR will be on standby as needed by crews on the ground.

Update from DNR on the Stayman Flats Fire, now at 1,200 acres.
Washington State Department of Natural Resources

DNR continues to respond to the Stayman Flats Fire, currently at 1,200 acres and 30% contained. With dozer lines in place on both flanks, two hand crews and other resources on the ground, and sizable air assets being deployed, we are working hard to get this fire contained.
