Ray it's time for you to forget the easy retirement life and run for Okanogan County commissioner. Andy Hover and Chris Branch as OCCs, gave their support to the Mega MAC. That action supported significantly raising property taxes if prop 1 had passed and would have placed an enormous burden on low-income families.

I don't think the majority of Voters in this County would appreciate politicians who support raising property taxes.

Both need to be primaried.

Tonasket Pool

Post by pasayten »

The Tonasket Pool was built with private donations, donated labor, and a gofundme...

"After 65 years the Tonasket Pool became unusable and had to be closed in 2011. The old pool cannot be repaired so it must be replaced. The City of Tonasket cannot afford to build or maintain a new pool. A group of concerned citizens formed a committee to organize an effort to build a new pool for the community. They formed the Tonasket Swimming Pool Association, were granted 501 (C) (3) tax-exempt status by the IRS and have raised over $884,000 all in a year and a half, all from private donors. The cost of the new pool is projected to be $1.2 million. Just recently the voters approved a new Parks and Recreation District and a small levy to fund the maintenance of the new pool and existing city parks. Everything is falling into place. With your help, we can start building the pool this spring.

A local architect has created and donated the simple design-- a wading pool attached to a 6 lane, 25 yard pool. We have additional pledges of labor towards part of the construction of the building and for demolition of the current pool.

You can help by making a donation of any amount.

The benefits of a public pool are significant. A public pool has a positive economic impact on a community by making the community attractive to prospective home buyers, providing summer youth employment, and attracting out of town customers to downtown businesses.

You can help bring back the Tonasket Swim Team, provide swimming lessons to children and provide a safe, low cost summer activity for youth, not to mention a low cost and fun way for entire families to engage in physical activity .

Please make a donation of any amount. All donations are tax deductible."
