Twisp - Chlorine in water

Post by pasayten »

TWISP - An unexpected issue arose yesterday in the Town of Twisp during a one-time disinfection process of the drinking water system.

Collaborating with a water consultant, the town unintentionally applied a higher dose of chlorine than anticipated, leading to a noticeable chlorine smell reported by some

Twisp Public Works has been proactively addressing the situation by flushing and testing the water system. Although current tests show acceptable chlorine levels, the town acknowledges the potential for undetected pockets of higher chlorine concentrations. As a precautionary measure, Twisp officials are advising residents to flush their household water systems. This can be done by letting faucets run until there is no discernible chlorine odor.

For those concerned about any residual chlorine in their drinking water, the town suggests using bottled water for consumption. Twisp Public Works is diligently working on the matter and anticipates that by tomorrow, Friday, October 27, 2023, there will be no remaining chlorine odor in the water system
