Here’s the FWS/NPS announcement, yesterday, on the EIS being completed:

https://www.nps.gov/noca/learn/news/age ... scades.htm

It says the Record Of Decision (ROD), which is THE Decision about the selected alternative, is some weeks out. There is, however, an identified ‘preferred alternative’.

Seems a little strange…usually a Final EIS and ROD are issued together…although not always. I’m not sure why not in this case.

I hope the bears will stay well away from humans. Humans could lead to their demise. In Montana, remember, 11 had to be put down in 2022. Some due to human and cow conflicts.
My opinion is they should not be reintroduced because how is the habitat up there for them with less snow? And potential human conflict. Remains to be seen if they would come down to the Valley. We've had assurances that they won't. Right now actually is the time to get the garbage cans into storage.
I could have sworn I saw bear scat coming through Elbow Coulee yesterday.

From the sounds of things from last night's townhall mtg with Congressman Newhouse , FWS has determined that Griz will probably be introduced into the N Cascades sometime this spring.
