This big El Nino is fading fast with the prediction that we'll see the return of a La Nina by late summer. The trendlines are what tell the story.

This is for sure the thinnest snowpack since 2014-2015 and arguably the weakest since 1976-1977.

1997-1998 was also a very thin year. As were 2002-2003 and 2004-2005.

It was the winter of '96-'97 where we got 2.5 ft plus in a 24 hr. period. It just wouldn't stop. But there have been some sparse Februaries like this for sure. Winter of '90-'91 didn't seem to have much. I was near Carlton and it kind of looked like this now.

This winter was very similar to the winter of I believe 97, as I was building a display booth in the dry driveway in Feb for a Big Horn Show in march and looks like everything survived.

Toss up. With warming trends even last winter's huge snowfall melted off too quickly. We're definitely in trouble in the moment as well as moving into the Spring according to the data. At least with this miserable daily fog we're not seeing fast evaporation like we had last spring as well.

Sometimes the mountains get their most snow in March.
