The current issue is Proposition 1 and the creation of a permanent Metropolitan Park District taxing authority or not.

Don't get distracted and waste energy on side issues and rabbit trails...

Vote NO on Proposition 1.
I think it may matter to the Voters in Twisp that they may no longer have a swimming pool in Twisp if Proposition 1 passes.

I'm thinking about the two letters to the editor from people who live in Twisp who have their kids walk to a swimming pool. That may not happen if prop 1 passes.

I think it matters that the FOP is misleading voters with contradictory messaging.

Is it a side Trail to point out that property values will likely quadruple in the next 10 years if this place switches from a community of working people to a group of workers living in Pateros servicing a McMansion and tourist industry here.

What's next a Casino?

Ray, rural gentrification is an important issue to some of us who have lived here long enough to observe its effects.

Forming a Metropolitan Park District in this Valley will accelerate that process.

Yes, prop 1 is about forming a Metropolitan Park District. If that happens, that will have a major negative effect on our culture here.

This is hard to track all the twists and turns. My scorecard is getting unintelligible.

again, the people of Twisp should understand that when the FOP says our community what they mean is Winthrop and Mazama. If they were going to replace a pool in Twisp they would say so.

If the citizens of Twisp want to keep a pool in Twisp, they need to vote no on Proposition 1.

The FOP never submitted an engineering survey to the public showing that the historic Wagner Memorial Pool is beyond repair. Yet that is their unsubstantiated claim.

This historic pool represents the spirit of giving. .

The FOP'S plan to tax the poor represents "taking" for those you can't afford it to fund the FOP's dream boondoggle.

Proposition i has nothing to do with a pool and has everything to do with the establishment of a Metropolitan Park District, that relies on a regressive property tax structure for its Revenue.
When they borrow $20 million it is we property taxpayers who pay that back that loan principle with interest along with everything else having to do with a Metropolitan Park District. Salaries, pensions, construction cost, architectural fees, legal fees, energy, maintenance fees, repair fees, we replace a new roof, the list goes on and on. And that repeats itself for the next facility, a climbing wall in Mazama.

There are always people throughout history trying to take advantage of others in order to enrich themselves.

Carpet bagger
"In the history of the United States, carpetbagger is a largely historical term used by Southerners to describe opportunistic Northerners who came to the Southern states after the American Civil War, who were perceived to be exploiting the local populace for their own financial, political, and/or social gain."

My comment.

"Steve Oulman
I support replacing the Wagner Memorial Pool. I will be voting NO on Proposition 1.
I cannot bring myself to vote for a measure creating an unelected governing body that will levy a regressive tax for a facility costing more than building the high school and the new fire station combined.
An indoor aquatic center is not a priority for our community."
